Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of ground veal
  • 8 oz. of lasagna noodles
  • 28 oz. of canned crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz. of canned tomato sauce
  • 2 cups of grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup of chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup of chopped green peppers
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp. of olive oil
  • 1 tsp. of dried basil
  • 1 tsp. of dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and green peppers and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic and ground veal to the skillet and cook until veal is browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  5. Add canned crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer, allowing the sauce to cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  6. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the lasagna noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese, repeating until all ingredients are used up.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top of lasagna.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove aluminum foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
