Vegan Brioche Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 cup vegan butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Heat the almond milk and vegan butter in a small saucepan until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until it dissolves.
- Let the mixture cool to lukewarm temperature. Then sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes or until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and nutmeg.
- Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture and vanilla extract.
- Stir everything together until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and knead it again for a few minutes.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- Place the balls on a lined baking sheet, cover them with a damp towel, and let them rise again for another hour.
- Bake the brioche for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool the brioche on a wire rack before serving.
Verdict:
This vegan brioche recipe is a great alternative to traditional brioche and is just as fluffy and delicious. It’s perfect for a weekend brunch or a sweet treat any time of day.
