Blackberry Jelly with Agar-Agar Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon agar-agar powder

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine blackberries, water, and sugar. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Pour the mixture through a strainer into a clean bowl, pressing the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
  3. Return the strained mixture to the saucepan. Sprinkle agar-agar powder over the top and stir to combine.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until agar-agar powder is dissolved. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken.
  5. Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a greased jelly mold. Allow to cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
  6. Remove jelly from mold and serve cold.

Verdict:

This Blackberry Jelly with Agar-Agar is a deliciously sweet treat with a unique texture. The agar-agar gives the jelly a slightly firmer consistency than traditional fruit jellies, but it still melts in your mouth. The blackberries give the jelly a bright and fruity flavor that is perfectly sweet.
