  4. Place the dough in a large, greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free place until it has doubled in size; this should take about an hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it as desired. You can make one large loaf, several smaller loaves, or dinner rolls.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F while the dough is rising again for about 20 minutes.
  7. Beat one egg with a tablespoon of water and brush mixture on dough.
  8. Bake the dough in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool before slicing and serving.
