Caipirinha Granita
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 cup cachaça (Brazilian rum)
- Lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let cool to room temperature.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cooled sugar syrup, lime juice, and cachaça.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow dish, such as a baking dish or pie pan, and place it in the freezer.
- After half an hour, use a fork to scrape the mixture, breaking up any ice crystals that have formed. Repeat this process every 30 minutes for about 2-3 hours, or until the mixture resembles a fluffy snow-like texture.
- To serve, scoop the granita into individual cups or glasses and garnish with lime wedges.
Verdict:
This Caipirinha Granita is the perfect summer treat! The sweet and tangy flavors of lime juice complemented by the cachaça create a refreshing and almost addictive icy dessert.
Serving Suggestions:
For an extra kick, serve with a shot of cachaça or a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Alternatively, try serving with fresh fruit such as sliced strawberries or chopped mango to add some complimentary flavors and textures.
