Caramel Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strong coffee or espresso, cooled
- 24 ladyfingers, split in half lengthwise
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, half of the sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- In a shallow dish, mix together the coffee or espresso and remaining sugar.
- Dip each ladyfinger half into the coffee mixture, making sure to fully coat.
- Arrange the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer in the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish.
- Spoon half of the caramel sauce over the ladyfingers, spreading evenly to cover.
- Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers, followed by the remaining caramel sauce.
- Spread the mascarpone mixture over the top layer of caramel sauce, making sure to evenly cover.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
- When ready to serve, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder or drizzle with additional caramel sauce, if desired.
Serving suggestions:
Serve this delicious caramel tiramisu as a dessert, garnished with fresh berries or chopped nuts, if desired. It pairs well with a cup of coffee or espresso, and makes for a sweet and indulgent treat after a meal.
