Celeriac Gratin Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 large celeriac
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Peel and thinly slice the celeriac.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan and then stir in the minced garlic and salt. Stir for about 1 minute.
  4. Gradually pour in the heavy cream while continuously stirring the mixture.
  5. Add the black pepper and half of the grated cheese to the cream mixture, stirring well to combine.
  6. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with some butter.
  7. Layer the sliced celeriac evenly in the baking dish.
  8. Pour the cream mixture over the celeriac.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining grated cheese and bread crumbs over the top of the gratin.
  10. Bake the gratin in the oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the celeriac is cooked through.
  11. Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
