- 300g dark chocolate
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup cherry pie filling
- 24 ladyfingers
- 1/2 cup cherry brandy
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds (toasted)
Instructions:
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.

- Once the sugar has dissolved, remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate until smooth. Add the butter and continue to stir.
- Line a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper. Dip the ladyfingers in cherry brandy and arrange them along the edges and bottom of the pan.
- Pour half of the chocolate mixture over the ladyfingers, spreading it evenly.
- Add a layer of cherry pie filling on top of the chocolate mixture.
- Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers soaked in cherry brandy and the remaining chocolate mixture.
- Chill the charlotte in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Before serving, remove the charlotte from the pan, sprinkle the toasted almonds on top and garnish with additional cherry pie filling.
Verdict:
This black forest style charlotte combines the rich flavors of dark chocolate, cream, and cherry brandy for a decadent dessert. The ladyfingers add a light and crispy texture, while the toasted almonds provide a nutty crunch. This dessert is perfect for a special occasion or a dinner party.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve the charlotte with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to balance out the richness. A side of fresh berries will also provide a fruity contrast to the chocolate and cherry flavors.
