Chocolate Buns Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the butter and mix with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture. Mix until combined.
  4. Add the chocolate chips to the dough and mix again. Don’t overmix.
  5. Scoop out about 1/4 cup of dough onto the lined baking sheet, making sure they are spaced at least 2 inches apart. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the buns.
  6. Transfer the buns onto a wire rack to cool.
