- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the butter and mix with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture. Mix until combined.
- Add the chocolate chips to the dough and mix again. Don’t overmix.
- Scoop out about 1/4 cup of dough onto the lined baking sheet, making sure they are spaced at least 2 inches apart. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the buns.
