Chocolate Filled Donuts Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 3 tbsp unsalted, softened butter
- 4-6 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 cup chocolate chips, melted
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until well combined.
- Using the paddle attachment, add milk, eggs, and butter. Beat on low speed until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Shape it into a ball and place it into a greased bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap and allow it to rest for an hour to double in size.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch in thickness.
- Using a 3-inch cookie cutter, cut out rounds and place them onto floured baking sheets.
- Cover the dough with a towel and allow it to rise for 30 minutes.
- In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat up 4-6 cups of vegetable oil to 350°F for frying.
- Carefully place each dough round in the oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until they become golden brown.
- Remove from oil onto a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
- Using a piping bag, pipe melted chocolate into the center of each donut.
- Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or glaze of choice.
