Ciabatta Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500g bread flour
- 10g salt
- 7g instant yeast
- 400ml warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil.
- Use a fork to mix the ingredients together until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours in a warm place, until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough is ready, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a baking stone or a lightly oiled baking sheet in the oven to heat up.
- Punch down the dough to release the air and transfer it to a floured surface.
- Gently stretch the dough out into an oblong shape, about 10-12 inches long and 3-4 inches wide. Fold the dough in half lengthwise, and then in half again, pressing the edges together to seal the folds.
- Dust the top of the dough with flour and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
- Carefully transfer the dough onto the preheated baking stone or baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crisp, and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Transfer the ciabatta bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
