Easy Potato Gratin

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1.5 cups grated cheese (Gruyere or cheddar)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the cream, milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat over medium heat until just simmering.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle with half of the grated cheese.
  6. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
