Fig Tarte Tatin Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 8-10 ripe figs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and quarter the figs, and set aside.
- Melt the butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sugar and cook until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally.
- Add the quartered figs to the skillet and let cook for 4-5 minutes until they start to get brown. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet to a size that will fit over the skillet. Place it over the figs, and tuck in the edges around the figs. Pierce a few times with a fork.
- Bake the skillet for 20-25 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes. Using oven mitts to handle the skillet, place a serving plate upside down on top of the skillet, and quickly but carefully invert the skillet and plate together. The fig tarte tatin should release easily onto the plate.
- Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional).
Verdict:
This fig tarte tatin recipe is an elegant dessert that combines the sweetness of figs with the crunchiness of puff pastry. It’s perfect for a dinner party or a special occasion.
