Foie gras samosas with spices

Foie Gras Samosas with Spices Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 sheets of phyllo pastry
  • 200g of foie gras
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of allspice powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Cut the foie gras into small pieces and place in a bowl. Add in the honey, soy sauce, cinnamon, allspice, and black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Take one sheet of phyllo pastry and brush it with the beaten egg. Fold it in half lengthwise to make a long strip.
  5. Place a spoonful of the foie gras mixture at one end of the pastry strip and fold it diagonally to form a triangle. Keep folding until you reach the end of the strip. Tuck the edges in and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Repeat with the remaining phyllo pastry sheets.
  7. Brush the samosas with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  8. In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the samosas until crisp and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
  10. Serve the foie gras samosas hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Verdict

The combination of foie gras with sweet spices and flaky pastry is a match made in heaven. These samosas make a great appetizer for a special occasion or dinner party.

Serving Suggestions

Serve with a drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze for added sweetness. Alternatively, jalapeño jelly or fig jam would be great accompaniments. Pair with a crisp white wine or champagne for the ultimate indulgence.
