Homemade quince paste

Homemade Quince Paste Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds quince fruits
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Water

Directions

  1. Wash and scrub the quince fruits to remove any dirt or impurities on the surface. Then, cut them into small pieces and remove the seeds and tough core from the center of each piece.
  2. In a large saucepan, place the quince pieces and pour enough water to cover them. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes until the quince pieces are soft and tender.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked quince pieces to a food processor and puree them until smooth and creamy.
  4. Put the puree back into the saucepan and add the sugar. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 45-50 minutes until the mixture becomes a thick and sticky paste.
  5. Pour the quince paste into a square or rectangular baking dish lined with parchment paper and smooth out the surface with a spatula. Let it cool down to room temperature, then transfer it to the fridge and let it set for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Once the quince paste is set, remove it from the baking dish and cut it into small square or rectangular pieces with a sharp knife. Serve cold or at room temperature as a delicious dessert or snack.
