Indian Sauces and Chutneys Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 1 green chili
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chop the tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, and green chili.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds start to splutter, add the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chili.
  4. Stir and sauté for a minute or until the onions become translucent.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and stir well.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
  7. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt.
  8. Stir everything well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  9. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little water to adjust the consistency.
  10. Add fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with your favorite Indian dish.
