Lebanese Minced Meat Soup (Chorbet Rouz) Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup white rice
- 6 cups water
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon dried mint
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions:
- In a large pot, brown the ground meat over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the rice, water, tomato paste, dried mint, salt, pepper, and cinnamon.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the soup has thickened.
- Stir in lemon juice and serve hot.
