Mascarpone brioche

Mascarpone Brioche Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110F)
  • 1/4 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and yeast. Mix until it is evenly combined.
  2. In a separate, smaller mixing bowl, whisk together the warm water and mascarpone cheese until it is smooth.
  3. Add the mascarpone mixture, softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt to the flour mixture. Mix the ingredients together until they come together as a sticky dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into six even pieces. Knead each piece into a ball and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Cover the baking sheet with the damp cloth and allow the dough to rise for another 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size again.
  9. Brush the top of the rolls with the egg yolk and milk mixture.
  10. Bake the mascarpone brioche rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  11. Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Serving suggestions:

Serve your mascarpone brioche rolls warm with a dollop of mascarpone cheese on top, and a drizzle of honey for an extra sweetness. You can also serve them with your favorite jam, butter or Nutella. They can be enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea as a breakfast or as a light dessert.
