Mirabelle plum jam

Mirabelle Plum Jam Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of fresh Mirabelle plums, pitted and chopped
  • 3 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, mix the chopped plums, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the fruit is coated in sugar.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring frequently. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes until the fruit has softened and the mixture has thickened considerably.
  3. If using, add in the cinnamon and stir well, making sure it is evenly distributed in the mixture.
  4. Perform a gel test by dipping a spoon into the mixture and turning it over. If the jam runs off like syrup, it is not ready. If it holds its shape, it is done.
  5. Once the jam is ready, turn off the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  6. Pour the hot jam into sterilized canning jars and seal tightly with lids. Let them cool completely before storing them in a cool, dry place.

Verdict:

This mirabelle plum jam recipe is both sweet and tangy, with a slight hint of cinnamon. It is perfect for spreading on toast, biscuits, or scones. You could also use it as a topping for cheesecakes or yogurt bowls.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve this jam with freshly baked croissants or scones for a delicious breakfast or afternoon snack. It’s also great for using as a glaze for roasted pork or chicken dishes.
