Old fashioned homemade chicken broth
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 parsnip, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns
- 12 cups water
Instructions:
- In a large pot, add the chicken pieces and cover with water. Bring to a boil and skim off any foam that rises to the surface.

- Skim off any fat that rises to the surface of the chilled broth and discard it.
- Use the broth immediately or store it in the fridge or freezer until ready to use.
