Pear Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 double pie crust
  • 6 to 7 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, toss sliced pears with sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and lemon juice until well combined.
  4. Pour the pear mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Dot the top of the filling with butter.
  6. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the filling. Trim the edges and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
  7. Make several slits on the top crust to vent steam.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let the pie cool completely before slicing and serving.
