Plum Jam with Fresh Walnuts Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs plums
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup chopped fresh walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Wash and pit the plums. Cut them into small pieces.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine the plums, sugar, salt, and water. Mix well.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Skim any foam that forms on top.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice and chopped walnuts. Cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. To test if the jam is ready, drop a small amount onto a chilled plate and tilt it. If it sets and doesn’t run, it’s ready.
  7. If the jam is not ready, continue cooking and testing until it reaches the desired consistency.
  8. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  9. Spoon the jam into clean, sterilized jars and let it cool completely.
  10. Store the jars in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
