Plum Jam with Fresh Walnuts Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs plums
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 cup chopped fresh walnuts
Instructions:
- Wash and pit the plums. Cut them into small pieces.
- In a large saucepan, combine the plums, sugar, salt, and water. Mix well.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Skim any foam that forms on top.
- Stir in the lemon juice and chopped walnuts. Cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- To test if the jam is ready, drop a small amount onto a chilled plate and tilt it. If it sets and doesn’t run, it’s ready.
- If the jam is not ready, continue cooking and testing until it reaches the desired consistency.
- Remove the pan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Spoon the jam into clean, sterilized jars and let it cool completely.
- Store the jars in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
