Puff pastry roses with apples and almond cream

Puff Pastry Roses with Apples and Almond Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 2 apples
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup almond meal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Thaw the puff pastry sheet according to the package directions.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the almond meal and sugar to make the almond cream.
  4. Core the apples and cut them in half. Use a mandoline or sharp knife to slice the apples as thinly as possible. Place the apple slices in a bowl and squeeze the lemon juice over them. Toss the apple slices with the lemon juice to prevent browning.
  5. Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheet into six strips, about 2 inches wide. Spread a spoonful of the almond cream down the center of each strip.
  6. Arrange the apple slices on top of the almond cream so that they overlap. The slices should hang over the edge of the puff pastry strip. Sprinkle sliced almonds over the apple slices.
  7. Fold the puff pastry strip in half to cover the bottom edge of the apple slices, and then roll up the strip to form a rose shape.
  8. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the puff pastry roses. Bake the roses for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Let the puff pastry roses cool slightly before serving.

Verdict:

These puff pastry roses are a beautiful and delicious dessert that will impress your guests. The flaky puff pastry is filled with sweet, tart apples and a creamy almond filling. The sliced almonds add crunch and texture. Serve these roses warm with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
