Queijo Frito – Fried Cheese
Ingredients:
- 400g of cheese (preferably fresco cheese)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of wheat flour
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Cut the cheese into rectangular pieces, approximately 1cm thick.
- Beat the eggs in a bowl and set aside.
- Add the flour to another bowl, and the breadcrumbs to a third bowl, placing them side by side with the beaten eggs.
- Dip each piece of cheese first in the flour, then in the eggs, and finally in the breadcrumbs, making sure it is well coated on all sides.
- In a frying pan, heat enough oil over medium heat to cover the cheese pieces when placed in the pan.
- Working in batches, fry the cheese pieces until golden and crispy on each side.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot, preferably accompanied by a dipping sauce of your choice.
