Queijo Frito – Fried Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 400g of cheese (preferably fresco cheese)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of wheat flour
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Cut the cheese into rectangular pieces, approximately 1cm thick.
  2. Beat the eggs in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Add the flour to another bowl, and the breadcrumbs to a third bowl, placing them side by side with the beaten eggs.
  4. Dip each piece of cheese first in the flour, then in the eggs, and finally in the breadcrumbs, making sure it is well coated on all sides.
  5. In a frying pan, heat enough oil over medium heat to cover the cheese pieces when placed in the pan.
  6. Working in batches, fry the cheese pieces until golden and crispy on each side.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot, preferably accompanied by a dipping sauce of your choice.
