Salted butter caramel

Salted Butter Caramel

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, diced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Spread the granulated sugar evenly in a medium-sized saucepan and heat over medium-high heat without stirring. As the sugar begins to melt and caramelize around the edges, gently swirl the pan to distribute the heat and help the sugar melt uniformly.
  2. Once the sugar is completely melted and turns a rich amber color, add the butter and stir continuously until it has melted and combined with the sugar.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring the mixture. Be careful as the mixture will bubble up quickly.
  4. Add sea salt and continue to stir until the caramel is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  5. Transfer the caramel to a jar or container and cover tightly with a lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
