Small Lamb Turnovers Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- In a large skillet, brown the lamb over medium-high heat.
- Add onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, allspice, salt and pepper and sauté for an additional 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Roll out puff pastry sheets onto a floured surface.
- Using a cookie cutter or cup, cut out circles of pastry.
- Place a tablespoon of lamb mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg and fold the circle in half, pressing down the edges to seal.
- Use a fork to create a decorative edge around the sealed pastry.
- Brush the top of each turnover with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve hot as an appetizer or as a main dish with a side salad. Great for parties or a cozy night in. These turnovers can also be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
