Small Lamb Turnovers Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the lamb over medium-high heat.
  3. Add onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, allspice, salt and pepper and sauté for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Roll out puff pastry sheets onto a floured surface.
  6. Using a cookie cutter or cup, cut out circles of pastry.
  7. Place a tablespoon of lamb mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
  8. Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg and fold the circle in half, pressing down the edges to seal.
  9. Use a fork to create a decorative edge around the sealed pastry.
  10. Brush the top of each turnover with beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve hot as an appetizer or as a main dish with a side salad. Great for parties or a cozy night in. These turnovers can also be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
