Spicy Turkey Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey, around 15 pounds
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Remove the neck, giblets, and any fat from the turkey. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the chili powder, paprika, cumin powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper together.
  4. Using your hands, rub the spice mixture all over the turkey, including underneath the skin. Be sure to get the spices into all the crevices of the turkey.
  5. In another small bowl, mix the olive oil and hot sauce together. Brush the mixture all over the turkey.
  6. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the turkey (without touching the bone) reaches 165°F (75°C).
  7. Remove the foil and continue to roast for an additional 30 minutes, or until the skin is browned and crispy.
  8. Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes before carving.
