Tomato and Bacon Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, and leave the bacon drippings in the skillet.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for a minute or until fragrant.
- Add the can of crushed tomatoes to the skillet, stir well and bring to a simmer. Add the salt and black pepper, and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the bacon back to the skillet and let it cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the sauce to your desired texture.
- Return the sauce to the skillet and heat it again over low heat until it is warm and ready to serve.
