Vanilla Flan Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 2 egg yolks
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Pour into a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, tilting it to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, vanilla extract, eggs, and egg yolks until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the caramelized sugar in the baking dish.
- Place the dish inside a larger baking pan, and fill the larger pan with enough hot water to reach halfway up the sides of the smaller dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the flan is set but still jiggles slightly in the center.
- Remove from the oven and let cool. Then chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
- Loosen the edges of the flan with a knife, and invert onto a serving platter. Serve chilled.
