Verbena Cherry Wine Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds fresh cherries, pitted and stemmed
  • 1 cup fresh verbena leaves
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 packet wine yeast
  • 6 cups boiling water

Directions:

  1. Thoroughly wash and rinse a large glass jar or container.
  2. In a separate bowl, mash the pitted cherries and verbena leaves together.
  3. Add the sugar to the cherry mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. Place the cherry mixture into the glass jar or container and pour the boiling water over it.
  5. Stir the mixture until the sugar has fully dissolved.
  6. Let the mixture rest until it has cooled to room temperature.
  7. Once cooled, add the wine yeast packet to the jar and stir gently.
  8. Cover the jar loosely with a lid or cheesecloth to allow air transfer.
  9. Set the jar in a cool and dark place, and allow it to sit for 10-14 days, stirring occasionally.
  10. After the fermentation process has completed, strain the mixture into bottles, and refrigerate or serve chilled.

Verdict:

This refreshing Verbena Cherry Wine has a light, fruity taste with a hint of herbal notes from the verbena leaves. It is perfect for sipping on a warm summer day or as an after-dinner dessert drink.

Serving Suggestions:
