Walnut Marble Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ground walnuts
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture, until fully combined.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the ground walnuts and cocoa powder.
  8. Remove 1/2 cup of the batter and fold it into the walnut-cocoa mixture, creating a chocolate batter.
  9. Spread half of the vanilla batter evenly in the prepared pan, followed by the chocolate batter, and then top with the remaining vanilla batter.
  10. Using a knife, gently swirl the batter back and forth to create a marbled effect.
  11. Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Cool the cake in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then remove it from the pan onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Verdict:

This walnut marble cake is the perfect combination of vanilla and chocolate, with a deliciously moist and tender crumb. The ground walnuts add a lovely nutty flavor and texture that complements the chocolate perfectly. A slice of this cake goes great with a warm cup of coffee or tea.
