Walnut Marble Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup ground walnuts
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture, until fully combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ground walnuts and cocoa powder.
- Remove 1/2 cup of the batter and fold it into the walnut-cocoa mixture, creating a chocolate batter.
- Spread half of the vanilla batter evenly in the prepared pan, followed by the chocolate batter, and then top with the remaining vanilla batter.
- Using a knife, gently swirl the batter back and forth to create a marbled effect.
- Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then remove it from the pan onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Verdict:
This walnut marble cake is the perfect combination of vanilla and chocolate, with a deliciously moist and tender crumb. The ground walnuts add a lovely nutty flavor and texture that complements the chocolate perfectly. A slice of this cake goes great with a warm cup of coffee or tea.
