White Forest Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted
  • White chocolate shavings, for decoration (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease & flour a 9-inch cake tin.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Gradually beat in flour mixture and milk, alternating between the two, until batter is smooth and well-blended.
  6. Pour batter into prepared cake tin and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool down completely before frosting.
  8. Whip the cream until it forms stiff peaks.
  9. Cut the cake in half horizontally, spread whipped cream over the bottom layer, and cover with cherries.
  10. Place the upper half on top of the cream and decorate with whipped cream, cherries, and white chocolate shavings (optional).
