Casserole Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice and place them in a greased 9-inch casserole dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and whisk until fully combined with no lumps.
  5. Pour the mixture over the sliced apples in the casserole dish.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the cake is golden brown and cooked through. Test by inserting a toothpick in the center, it should come out clean.
