Chocolate Candy Apples Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Red Delicious)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Toping of your choice (Sprinkles, nuts, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, etc.)
  • 6 wooden sticks

Directions:

  1. Wash the apples and dry them thoroughly
  2. Insert a wooden stick in the top of each apple
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat
  4. Melt the semisweet chocolate chips and butter in a double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  5. Add the vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture and stir well.
  6. Dip each of the apples into the chocolate mixture, making sure the apple is evenly coated. Use a spoon to help spread the chocolate around the apple. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off before placing the apple on the baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle your desired topping over each apple.
  8. Allow the chocolate to cool and harden completely before serving. You can place them in the fridge for 20 minutes to make the process faster
