Cyril Lignac-Style Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
- 200g butter
- 4 eggs
- 125g sugar
- 50g flour
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Grease a 20cm cake tin with butter and line the bottom with baking paper.
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and melt in a heatproof bowl placed over a pot of boiling water.
- Add the butter to the melted chocolate and stir until it’s well combined. Set aside to cool.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Sift the flour and salt into the egg mixture and mix until combined.
- Slowly pour the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and fold gently until you have a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared tin and smooth the surface with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the tin for 5 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the tin and place it on a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
