Donuts at Monsieur Cuisine

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 quarts oil for frying
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, for coating
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, for coating

Instructions:

  1. In the Monsieur Cuisine, mix together flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Bring the oil to a temperature of 375°F in a large pot or deep fryer.
  5. Scoop the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip.
  6. Pipe the dough into the hot oil, cutting off with scissors at 1 1/2-inch intervals.
  7. Fry the donuts until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain.
  9. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for the sugar coating.
  10. When the donuts are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.

Verdict:

These donuts are light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet with a hint of nutmeg. The cinnamon sugar coating adds a nice crunch and additional sweetness to these already-delicious treats. They are perfect for breakfast or dessert, or even a midday snack.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve these donuts warm with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa. They pair well with fresh fruit and whipped cream for a sweet breakfast treat. Alternatively, serve them alongside ice cream or chocolate ganache for a decadent dessert.
