Fondant Apple Bricks Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 medium-sized apples
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
- Begin by peeling and coring the apples. Cut them into small chunks and set aside.
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine granulated sugar, water, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Cook the mixture over medium heat and stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Add the apple chunks to the saucepan and stir until they are coated in the sugar mixture. Cover the pan and let the apples cook for 5-7 minutes or until they turn slightly soft.
- Remove the cover and let the mixture cook for an additional 10-15 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated and the apples have turned into a thick sauce-like consistency.
- Add cornstarch to the apple mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time and keep stirring until the mixture thickens significantly. (You may not need to add all of the cornstarch). Let the mixture cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Once the apple mixture has cooled down, divide it into small brick-like portions using a cookie cutter or a mold. Allow the bricks to dry for at least 3-4 hours or overnight at room temperature.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar over the brick-shaped fondants to add some sweetness and texture.
- The Fondant Apple Bricks are now ready to be served!
Verdict:
The Fondant Apple Bricks are a sweet and delicate treat for those who appreciate natural flavors and textures. These bitesize brick-like fondants are soft and chewy from the inside, and crunchy from the outside due to the powdered sugar coating. The cinnamon and vanilla flavor adds a comforting touch to the apples. Serve them alongside tea or coffee for a delightful and healthy dessert.
