Spice pistoles – Delicious

Spice Pistoles – Delicious Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cold milk

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, smoked paprika, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Add the cubed butter and grated cheese to the dry mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to break the butter down into small pieces until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  3. Add the cold milk to the mixture and use a fork to bring it all together into a shaggy dough.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently until it comes together into a smooth ball.
  5. Flatten the ball into a disk and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter or a sharp knife to cut out rounds or other fun shapes.
  8. Place the rounds on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and fragrant.
  9. Remove the spice pistoles from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack or serving dish.

Verdict

These spice pistoles are delicious! The combination of cheddar cheese and warm spices makes them perfect for snacking on their own or dunking into a hot bowl of soup. They’re also great for entertaining, as they look cute and rustic on a cheese board or appetizer spread.
