Baked Duckling Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole duckling
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Clean the duckling, remove giblets and neck, and rinse it with cold water. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the salt, black pepper, and paprika. Rub the mixture all over the duckling, inside and out.
  4. In a large roasting pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent. Place the duckling on top of the onion and garlic mixture, breast-side up. Pour the chicken broth into the roasting pan.
  5. Cover the roasting pan tightly with foil and bake the duckling for 1 hour. Remove the foil and continue baking for 30 minutes or until the skin is crispy and browned.
  6. Remove the duckling from the roasting pan and let it rest for 10 minutes. Carve and serve hot.

Verdict:

This easy baked duckling recipe produces a succulent and flavorful bird with minimal ingredients and effort. The spice rub and sautéed onion and garlic impart delicious aromatics to the meat, while the chicken broth helps keep it moist during baking. Perfect for a special occasion or holiday feast.
