Bucatini and coffee carbonara

Bucatini and Coffee Carbonara Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound bucatini pasta
  • 1/2 pound bacon, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bucatini pasta and cook according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set it on a paper towel to drain.
  3. Add olive oil to the same skillet with the bacon grease and toss in the garlic. Cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant. Remove the skillet from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, parmesan cheese, and brewed coffee.
  5. Return the skillet with the garlic to medium-low heat. Add the cooked pasta and crispy bacon into the skillet. Stir everything well to combine.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and pour in the egg, cheese, and coffee mixture. Toss well so that the pasta is coated evenly with the sauce. The egg yolks should cook from the heat of the pasta, but make sure to not overcook until the eggs become scrambled.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer the bucatini and coffee carbonara to a serving dish and garnish with additional parmesan cheese, if desired.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Verdict:

Bucatini and Coffee Carbonara is a truly unique dish that combines the rich flavors of bacon and parmesan cheese with the subtle, nutty taste of coffee. Although unconventional, the coffee adds a dimension of depth to the classic carbonara recipe that will leave your taste buds feeling pleasantly surprised. This recipe is perfect for a cozy night in or a dinner party with friends.
