Caillettes, Swiss Chard and Apples Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 lb Swiss chard, stems removed and leaves chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried savory
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, chopped Swiss chard leaves, onion, garlic, apple, thyme, savory, salt and pepper.
  3. Add the beaten egg to the mixture and stir to combine everything together well.
  4. Form the mixture into small, oval-shaped patties known as ‘caillettes’ and place them onto a greased baking sheet.
  5. Drizzle the olive oil over the caillettes.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Serve the caillettes with a side of sautéed Swiss chard and apples.

Verdict:

This dish is absolutely delicious, with the sweetness of the apples and the flavors of the chard, pork and herbs coming together perfectly in each bite of the caillettes. The Swiss chard also adds a nutritious and tasty addition to the meal.

Serving Suggestions:

The caillettes, Swiss chard and apples would pair well with a side of roasted potatoes or crusty bread. A nice glass of red wine would also complement the flavors of the pork and herbs wonderfully.
