Crozet Gratin Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Crozet pasta
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups Gruyere cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the crozet pasta according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is golden brown.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream until smooth. Add the nutmeg and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes until it thickens. Remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of the grated Gruyere cheese until melted and well combined.
  6. Add the cooked crozet to the cheese sauce and stir until coated. Transfer the mixture to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of Gruyere cheese over the top and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Serve hot.
