Duck breast with roasted figs

Duck Breast with Roasted Figs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 duck breasts, skin on
  • 8 fresh figs, halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Score the skin of the duck breasts and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. In a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat, sear the duck breasts skin side down for 5 minutes or until golden brown. Flip the duck over and sear for an additional 2 minutes.
  4. Place the skillet in the oven and roast for 10 minutes or until the duck is cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, garlic, salt and pepper.
  6. Add the figs to the skillet with the duck for the last 5 minutes of cooking time. Drizzle the honey mixture over the figs and toss to coat.
  7. Remove the skillet from the oven and let the duck rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve the duck with the roasted figs and drizzle the pan drippings over the top.

Verdict:

This dish is a perfect combination of the richness and gaminess of the duck, and the sweetness of the roasted figs. The balsamic vinegar and honey glazed on top of the figs add a touch of sophistication to the dish, which is perfect for an intimate dinner party. Your guests will be impressed with your culinary skills and will want the recipe for themselves.
