Easy Lamb Shank Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 lamb shanks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large ovenproof pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the lamb shanks on all sides until browned. Remove the lamb shanks and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté the onions and garlic until softened. Add the dried thyme and rosemary and sauté for another minute. Deglaze the pot with red wine and simmer until the liquid is reduced by half.
  4. Add the beef broth and return the lamb shanks to the pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the pot with a lid and place in the oven. Cook for 2-3 hours or until the lamb is tender and falls off the bone.

Verdict:

This easy lamb shank recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner at home. The lamb shanks are fall-off-the-bone tender and pack a flavorful punch thanks to the aromatics and red wine. Serve with your favorite sides or over a bed of mashed potatoes.
