Forest Burger with Beef, Mushrooms and Melted Cheese
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar or Swiss recommended)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spatula or wooden spoon, until it is browned and cooked through.
- While the beef is cooking, preheat the broiler on high and place the hamburger buns on a baking sheet. Broil for 1-2 minutes until the buns are lightly toasted. Remove the buns from the broiler and set aside.
- When the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat and return the skillet to medium-high heat. Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cover the skillet tightly with a lid or foil, cooking until the cheese is melted, about 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading remaining butter on the toasted buns. Then add the cooked beef and top it with mushrooms.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve the burgers with a side of fries, potato wedges, or a salad. Enjoy the forest burger hot and gooey!
