Forest burger with beef, mushrooms and melted cheese

Forest Burger with Beef, Mushrooms and Melted Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar or Swiss recommended)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spatula or wooden spoon, until it is browned and cooked through.
  3. While the beef is cooking, preheat the broiler on high and place the hamburger buns on a baking sheet. Broil for 1-2 minutes until the buns are lightly toasted. Remove the buns from the broiler and set aside.
  4. When the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat and return the skillet to medium-high heat. Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cover the skillet tightly with a lid or foil, cooking until the cheese is melted, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Assemble the burgers by spreading remaining butter on the toasted buns. Then add the cooked beef and top it with mushrooms.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the burgers with a side of fries, potato wedges, or a salad. Enjoy the forest burger hot and gooey!
