Free Range Lasagna – Delicious Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound free-range ground beef
- 1/2 pound free-range Italian sausage
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 12-15 cooked lasagna noodles
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large saucepan, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the onion, garlic, salt, and pepper to the saucepan and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, 1 tablespoon of basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and parsley. Simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon of basil, and the beaten eggs.
- Spoon about 1/2 cup of the sauce into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, overlapping slightly at the edges.
- Spoon a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese. Spoon another layer of sauce over the cheese.
- Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese on top of the lasagna.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
