Homemade dough for chestnut ravioli

Homemade Dough for Chestnut Ravioli Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and add in the eggs and olive oil.
  3. Using a fork, beat the eggs and olive oil together, slowly incorporating the flour until it forms a shaggy dough.
  4. Add in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together and is no longer dry.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  6. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes to an hour.
  7. After the dough has rested, roll it out on a floured surface until it’s thin enough to run through the pasta machine or be rolled separately with a rolling pin.
  8. Use your desired shape cutter to cut your pasta. For ravioli, large circles can be cut out with a biscuit cutter.
  9. Add the chestnut filling to each circle of pasta and seal shut with egg wash and a fork.
  10. Cook the ravioli in boiling salted water for about 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface.
  11. Remove from the pot with a slotted spoon and serve with your choice of sauce.

Verdict:

This homemade pasta dough recipe is easy to make and perfect for any ravioli recipe, especially chestnut ravioli. The pasta comes out tender and flavorful, which pairs well with any filling you prefer.
