Italian Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. lasagna noodles
  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions, and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is translucent. Drain and discard the excess grease.
  4. Add the spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, salt, basil, oregano, and black pepper to the beef mixture. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the cottage cheese, beaten eggs, and Parmesan cheese.
  6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a layer of the meat sauce evenly in a 9×13 inch baking pan. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top of the meat sauce. Spread a layer of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles, and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of the meat sauce on top.
  7. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
